Critical Issues Commentary offers subscriptions to the podcast and RSS feed of our weekly radio broadcasts. The podcast and RSS feed provide summary information about the audio file to which they link, such as title, speaker, and duration of the audio. Links to the podcast and RSS feed are provided at the bottom of this page.
New to Podcasting or RSS feeds?
To subscribe to podcasts you will need software to receive the podcasts. There are several programs available for free such as iTunes (macOS, Windows), YamiPod (cross-platform, multi-lingual), and Grover Podcast (Windows).
With iTunes being the most commonly used podcasting program, follow the steps below:
- Download and install iTunes.
- Click on the desired Podcast link at the bottom of this page to go to the iTunes Music Store (iTMS).
- The iTunes software should automatically launch and take you to the subscription page.
- From the iTMS page for the podcast you can subscribe to all of the episodes or select one at a time.
- After subscribing, the podcast will appear in your iTunes podcast library.
- If you use a portable audio player such as a smart phone, then programs can automatically be synchronized to your device.
To subscribe to RSS feeds you will need software to retreive and view the feeds (often referred to as a news aggregator). There are several programs available for free such as RSSOwl (cross-platform), Firefox (cross-platform), SharpReader (Windows), Safari (macOS), and Google Chrome (macOS, Windows). In some cases you may be able to click on one of the RSS Feed links below and your news aggregator will automatically launch and retreive the information. In other cases you may need to copy one of the RSS Feed links and paste it (subscribe to it) into your news aggregator.
Special Note: The RSS Feed link can be used to subscribe to the respective podcast since the podcast and RSS feed come from the same link. If the podcast software or RSS news aggregator has trouble with the RSS Feed link provided, then try changing the link's "feed://" prefix to "http://" instead (assuming that you manually copied the link and pasted into your desired application).
